A New Era of Sound at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection
Our sanctuary is about to sound vastly different, and the wait is almost over.
We are officially retiring our previous electronic organ, which has served our congregation since 1997. Think about the desktop computer you used in the late nineties compared to the device you use today; that is the level of technological leap we are making with our new instrument. This new Allen Genisys organ represents a nearly thirty-year jump in sound quality, speakers, and engineering.
The change in our Sunday worship will be night and day.
Built with an intuitive color touch screen and premium keyboards, the console features six independent organ specifications built into one. This gives our musicians the freedom to choose from distinct historical styles, including Classic Allen, English, Cavaille Cole French, Schlicker, Arp Schnitger, and Aeolian-Skinner. We are gaining entirely new sonic capabilities, including the highly anticipated Zimbelstern stop to add a bright, ringing texture to our hymns.
During the transition, ancillary speakers around the room will also be replaced to produce a cleaner, vastly more authentic acoustic experience.
This specific console carries a unique local history, having already been performed on by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on two separate occasions.
We secured it with an adjustable crank bench, a beautiful oak stain, and decorative gothic moldings on the sides.
Installation begins October 5th and runs through October 7th. Once fully installed, Allen’s exclusive software and voicing process will tune the instrument to the specific acoustics of our room, guided by the input of our church musicians.
