Harvest Joy, Share Hope: Promise Garden Festival Oct. 11

On Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection will host the Promise Garden Festival: a day of food, fun, and community for all ages.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome!

The festival will feature hands-on activities for gardeners, families, and anyone who enjoys learning something new.

Visitors can:

  • Stop by the “Ask a Master Gardener” booth
  • Plant garlic in the garden and take one home
  • Try fall-inspired cooking demonstrations
  • Test soil and join in an earthworm count with “Science in the Garden”
  • Create something beautiful at the Garden Art Station
  • Enjoy refreshments throughout the day

Guests are also invited to bring fresh vegetables to be donated to the Community Assistance Center Food Pantry. Each donation will be thanked with a free packet of seeds to plant at home.

A Garden of Hope

The Promise Garden is more than a plot of land; it is a ministry of hope and community. Week after week, volunteers of all ages gather to plant, weed, harvest, and care for the garden. Preschoolers learn where food comes from, adults with special needs gain confidence through hands-on work, and LCR members and friends discover the joy of growing and giving together.

So far this year, hundreds of pounds of produce (onions, radishes, kale, beans, bok choy, herbs, and more) have been harvested and donated to families in need. Every head of lettuce, every basket of beans, is a reminder that the garden nourishes both the earth and our neighbors.

Feeding Families, Strengthening Community

Produce grown at LCR is donated to the Community Assistance Center (CAC), a vital part of the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody community since 1987. CAC provides food, clothing, and emergency financial assistance to prevent hunger and homelessness for thousands of families each year.

By bringing vegetables to donate, planting garlic in the soil, or simply learning more about growing food, festivalgoers will join in this important work.

Every seed planted is a sign of hope, for the garden, for families in our neighborhood, and for a stronger, healthier community.
