- The Apocalypse: Controversies and Meaning in Western HistoryWhat do dragons, trumpets, and visions of a new heaven and earth have to do with us today? More than you might think.
This Sunday school class at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection will dive into the Book of Revelation through the lens of Professor Craig R. Koester’s acclaimed Great Courses series. Together, we’ll explore how this mysterious text has shaped faith, culture, and history—from St. Augustine and Martin Luther, to the abolition movement and beyond.
We’ll trace Revelation’s journey from its origins in early Christianity, through centuries of interpretation, to its surprising influence on modern conversations about justice, hope, and new beginnings. Koester’s engaging approach helps us see not just the controversies of the Apocalypse, but also its enduring message of light breaking through darkness.
