DESCRIPTION:Here’s your chance to try the fastest growing winter sport in America – Curling! \n\n\n\n\nEnjoy a Learn-To-Curl event at Peachtree Curling Club. The event is open to youth 6th-12th grade and their parents. Please bring a friend along to join the fun. We will start with a lesson on how to curl\, and then a couple of ends of competition between teams (maybe a parents vs youth challenge). Please sign-up by Saturday\, Feb 10th so we know how many are coming. \nMeet at 3pm at Peachtree Curling Association\, 4880 Lower Roswell Road\, Unit 910.  The curling club is just over 1 mile from the church\, and located behind Kroger at Parkaire Landing Shopping Center. Parents will need to sign waivers for their children in order for them to be able to curl.  All of the necessary equipment will be provided\, however\, the rink is about 45 degrees and you will be walking on ice so we recommend wearing soft-soled athletic shoes\, dressing in layers\, and wearing gloves and a hat is not a bad idea. \n\n\n\n\n\nContact Mike Frey with any questions – 404-372-2161 or mfrey@mindspring.com. \nSign-up online

DESCRIPTION:The 40th Anniversary of the Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday\, March 10\, 2024. LCR will again have a team participate and people can walk in the downtown Atlanta event or at LCR from the church parking Lot. Join team LCR or donate here. \nThe Hunger Walk is a fun family event\, and donations benefit three great ministries – The Atlanta Community Food Bank\, Inspiritus\, and the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (LCR) food and shelter programs. \nThe walk at LCR will start with a light lunch at 12:30 pm\, and the walk event will start from the church parking lot at 1:00 pm. The route is about 1 mile\, and people will walk it once or twice. Music\, food and drinks will be available.  \nThe walk at Mercedes Benz stadium starts at 2:00 pm. \nOur LCR Marietta team goal this year is 35 walkers and to raise $7\,500. Last year we had 27 walkers on a wet day\, and raised $7\,585.  \nJoin team LCR or donate here.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection for a weekend of service activities as we celebrate God’s Work\, Our Hands. \n  \nOn Saturday\, September 7\, volunteers (ages 16+) can choose from three service opportunities: \n\nAssisting at MUST Ministries Donation Center (1280 Field Parkway) from 9:45 am to noon.  (contact Dana Jelinek to register)\nWorking on facilities upgrades at YELLS (779 Franklin Gateway) from 9 am to noon. (contact George O’Donnell to register)\nHelping in the Promise Garden at LCR anytime from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (contact Margaret Perry to register)\n\nOn Sunday September 8\, volunteers of all ages are welcome to take part in several activities at LCR between the early and late services (from about 9:30 to 10:45 am)\, including: \n\nCraft activities (creating Christmas ornaments\, bookmarks\, paper placemats\, tying blankets\, etc.) in the Gathering Room organized by various LCR Serving Ministries Teams including Shepherd Staff\, Guatemala\, LCR Blanketeers\, Knitters for Peace\, and Table On Delk. \nThe Promise Garden will also be having a work day on Sunday.\nAdditionally\, donations of meals are being collected for those in need (contact Karen Bear for more information on the meals).\n\nAll ages are welcome for all Sunday activities\, no advanced sign-up is needed. SUMMARY:20th Annual “Taste of Habitat” Fundraiser\, Banquet and Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Increasing the availability of affordable and safe housing is one of the most urgent needs in the United States today. For more than 35 years\, twelve north Atlanta Lutheran congregations\, including LCR\, have sponsored the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat.  In affiliation with Habitat for Humanity\, It helps to address that need through raising funds and enabling volunteers to build houses for deserving families in in the metro-Atlanta area each year.Participating in the annual fundraiser\, “Taste of Habitat”\, is just one way (but the most fun way) to support this ministry. Hundreds of Lutherans and other guests will gather at the Phase Family Center in Alpharetta to eat great food carefully prepared by more than 60 volunteer chefs\, drink\, chat\, play trivia\, and bid on artwork\, gift packages\, trips to Tuscany (Italy)\, an African safari\, wine\, and other interesting items in the Silent Auction. This year’s Taste is Friday\, September 13\, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. \nHow can you contribute/participate? \n\nVolunteer to be a chef: Prepare “tastes” of your specialty – appetizer\, salad\, entrée\, or dessert.\nContribute gift packages\, dinners\, theatre\, or concert tickets\, \, a special item\, or artwork for the auction.\nBe a sponsor or ask your workplace to sponsor the event.
