Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is built upon three components: faith formation, leadership development and service. We seek to ensure that all youth see themselves as beloved, gifted children of God who are called to be active in the life of the church and to make a difference in the world around them.

We offer a variety of opportunities for youth in grades 6 through 12 to grow in their faith, develop the leader within themselves and serve the world — both near and far.

Middle School Youth

Activities for youth in grades 6 through 8 are designed to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, each other and other Resurrection members. Sunday school classes, youth activities, retreats, mission trips and other age-appropriate activities build communities of peers where our youth can grow in their faith.

High School Youth

High School students celebrate God’s love and their discipleship through a variety of experiences designed around faith formation, leadership development, service and fun! On Sunday morning, high school students gather in the Youth Pavilion to discover how the Bible is relevant to their daily lives. On Sunday evenings, they come together for an informal time of worship and Bible Study on various topics impacting our youth.

On-going Programs

There’s something for everyone! Our summer program offers a variety of activities that encourage youth to deepen their faith and build leadership skills.

  • Confirmation

This two-year program is designed to help our youth establish and grow their relationship with Jesus Christ and nurture a lifestyle of discipleship. It includes classes, an annual retreat and participation in the worship life of the Church. Available to baptized youth grades 7-8 (or older, baptized youth who have not yet been confirmed).  Confirmation students attend Sunday School, Wednesday evening classes and worship.

  • Retreats
Each year, offsite retreats are held for our high school youth. These weekend events are memorable experiences where our youth share the love of Jesus Christ and discover their faith in a new light.
  • Small Group Ministry
We encourage high school students to develop closer relationships with fellow Christians through our Small Group Ministry. Most adult small groups are open to our youth, and we encourage our youth to form small groups based on their own interests and passions.
  • Worship
Celebrate with a joyful noise! Each year, our youth work together to plan and lead a Sunday worship service. Youth also have the opportunity to participate in worship year-round by serving as acolytes, greeters, readers, prayer leaders, choir members, ushers and communion assistants.
