“O sing to the Lord a new song;

sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Sing to the Lord, bless his name;

tell of his salvation from day to day.”  – Psalm 96:1-2

The Music Ministry at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is committed to fostering a culture of heartfelt worship to God through music.  Everyone in the pews is invited to lift up their voice in “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” (Colossians 3:16), but it takes a special group of dedicated volunteers to lead the church’s music.  We are always looking for new voices to join us in this important ministry.

The Traditional Choir sings at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday service and other special services throughout the liturgical year.  Primarily accompanied by organ and supported with occasional string or brass instruments, the Traditional Choir leads the congregation in traditional Lutheran hymnody, chanted responsorial Psalms, and contemporary liturgical music.  The choir also sings choral anthems twice a month and for special services throughout the year.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. between August and the end of May.

The Praise Team sings at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday service, leading worship to God with contemporary Christian favorites.  They are accompanied by piano, guitars, electric bass, and occasional string and brass players.  Singers who read music or learn music quickly are welcome to inquire about joining the Praise Team.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. year-round.

Resurrection Bells is an adult handbell group in the traditional music program that rings a five-octave set of Schulmerich handbells.  The group frequently rings for the traditional worship service throughout the year.  Rehearsals are held as needed, depending on group availability.

Please prayerfully consider joining the LCR Music Ministry and offering your musical gifts in service to the church.  To learn more about the music ministry or to get involved, contact music director Julian Calvin at julian@lcrmarietta.org.
